On the last day it was decided to run a set of 20 minute heats in each
amateur class with the pro riders judging. This was an excellent showcase
for the sport that was enjoyed by everyone watching and those
participating. The winner was chosen as the one who pulled the best trick
during the entire session. Without the pressure of full competition it was
great to see everyone going for it knowing they had plenty of time
Juniors Sam Moore with a very powered railey to blind
Seniors Layne Dickenson with a very big dangle!
Am Women Cheryl Confue with a well executed F16
Am Men James Baulding with a slim chance
Prize giving was presented by the Mayor Dave Roberts in front of a large
crowd. I’m sure pictures will be available through this forum soon.
Large thanks to Gary Powell of Northwest Kitesurfing for putting in all
the upfront hard work to secure the event, the sponsors Vestas, West Lakes
Renaissance, Red Bull, Deadman Clothing and Buff. Terrific effort put in
by all the race crew and the pro and am riders who judged along with new
judge JP with consistency. Also a big thank to those that helped in other
areas before, during and tomorrow after all the competitors are gone. Also
a big thanks to all the riders as it was commented that the mess that was
left behind in the camping area was nonexistent and the locals were
surprised and pleased that all mess was cleaned up. Good effort on the
water in sunshine and consistent wind most of the time.
Tony did a great job of photography during the entire event so hopefully
we will get to see some of the shots on here soon
Good effort by all who traveled as far afield as Thurso in Scotland to the
south east of England.
Have a good windy time in the weeks to come and look forward to the next
BKSA event in Exmouth in a couple of weeks with course racing, the home of
Steff Bridge, world champion in this class. This will be followed by
Hunstanton at the beginning of July followed the week after by Skegness.
Later all
